drawing challenge 185: Riff / reef

Book: Shark Trouble. True Stories about Sharks and the Sea

Book: The Deep

It has always made me the underwater world fascinates and especially coral reefs, with their many colors and colorful fish and "flowers".

I like being under water and dive a lot when I'm swimming. This is not because I can not swim well, but because everything is so weightless under water and the sounds are muffled.

Right diving with oxygen bottle I've never been and I would probably be trusted even in a swimming pool.

Because as much as I am fascinated by the sea with its reefs, I have great respect and even fear. What floats as a shadow beneath me? I am even scared to talk in front of my own shadow and frantically swam them to hang him, which was not possible :-)

When I bathe in the sea, mostly my imagination goes quite through with me and I immediately think of all sorts of animals, which could chew me from below.

So I look at the beautiful coral reefs in documentaries.

In all that I had to think, when I had the next reading for my literature circle in front are with:

step to first picture

I don't know why the book bears this title because I'm not immersed deep enough.

And in my bookshelf I still found this:

step to the next two pictures

What do you think about Reef?

The Inlinkz does not work yet with me, so I'm going to link all here, if you tell me that you are doing (who has already signed up for the DC, need no longer report).

Have a good dive.

  1. I can understand being afraid of what might be under the water. Such beautiful and interesting creatures live there. Such a fascinating realm. Thank you for being our host! My post is up and ready to share.

  3. i imagine your longing and next your fear... i can relate to enthusiastically watching reef from afar, that's right, from my very own place on the settee. if only to dream up an image of reef... n♥

  4. I'm not worried about what's under me when I swim in the ocean, but then I live in a safe ocean zone. Maybe if I lived in Australia I wouldn't be so calm about it...lol. Loved this week's challenge; thank you for that Katrin. :D

  5. Liebe Katrin,
your blue books make me curious. Literaturkreis? Tell me/us more, please!
Do you know Joe Bunni? He is a dentist from Paris (and my dear friend M. is his patient), but he is also a documentary filmmaker and a photographer: '+/-5metres' was on arte and has shown a wonderful water world with beautifulest reefs!
Thank you very much for hosting with this fantastic theme.
    Herzlich, Ariane

  7. dear katrin, first of all, I am sorry I didn't make it. despite saying I would. but something big came up over here. something really big and really good! more on this very soon.

reefs are pure magic to me; the color, the muted noises (like you've said) yand sharks. as lomg as I can remember, I always had a deep passion for sharks. their strength, the slightly creepy, but royal attitude, I totally adore them. dolphions are cute, but I would prefer sharks to them any time.

I wish you a very good week ahead and can tell you, your theme has inspired me to make a visit to the berlin aquarium very soon!

  8. Hello Katrin. Thank you for suggesting such a great theme. What gorgeous book covers you have in you shelves.

While walking along the beach this week I thought about coral reefs. My sea is too cold for coral or man eating sharks! We do have a lot of whales, the greatest divers of all. Maybe it's time for a trip to the Vancouver Aquarium with the grand girls. xo

  9. The underwater world has always been fascinating for me. But I totally agree about the scary parts...feel unsure, too, when I think about the creatures that might swim below me. I only snorkeled once or twice along a mediterranean reef and suddenly there was a cave next to me which scared me a lot. But I loved swimming over a large shoal of tiny little silvery fish, that was amazing and so beautiful!
Had to laugh about your scary shadow, haha!
